MOSAIC CELEBRATES CHARITY COMMISSION'S LAUNCH OF ONLINE REGISTRATION SOLUTION
The Charity Commission has, to date, rolled out a range
of successful frontline Online Services to deliver open
‘anytime’ access to citizens needing to transact with
the Commission and to realise critical operational
efficiencies.
Currently a citizen is able to both Register an
organisation for charitable status and submit their
Annual Returns online through the existing web-based
services available through the Commission’s website.
These existing online services have attracted a very
respectable take-up, however, the Commission wish to
extend this to a wider demographic currently not being
met by the existing web-based services.
Mosaic Consulting Associates Ltd, hereafter referred to
as MCA, was invited to submit a proposal for the supply
of a new version of the existing ‘Application for
registration form (CC5)’, based on Adobe’s LiveCycle ES
PDF Technology, initially being deployed in the Welsh
Language with potential for further deployment in the
English Language.
Basing the solution on Adobe’s LiveCycle ES PDF
technology provides opportunities to both compliment the
existing web-based services and in many cases provide
additional capability and availability, i.e. to Welsh
Language speaking charitable organisations currently not
supported by the existing web-based implementation.
Furthermore, this technology provides an alternative,
and arguably superior, user experience to traditional
web-based electronic form completion, i.e. removing the
need for connection to the Internet throughout, whilst
preserving the benefits of electronic form completion.
Notable benefits include:
• Dynamic adaptive navigation through the form, i.e. the
applicant only gets to see parts of the form relevant to
their application based on previously given answers.
• Dynamic addition of pages to support varying numbers
of Trustees – in excess of 250 in for some organisations.
• Dynamic addition of pages to support varying number
Objects and Activities for a given organisation.
• Field level validation of strongly typed information,
e.g. Date, Postcode, Currency, Telephone Numbers, Email
Addresses, etc.
• Form level validation of all mandatory fields, i.e.
the form can not be submitted until all mandatory fields
have been completed.
• Attach supporting documentation directly into the
form, e.g. Governing Document, Marketing Collateral,
Promotional Movies, etc. This feature promotes the
provision of supporting documentation in electronic form
and removes the need to reconcile articles received
through the postal system with the original application
form.
• Dynamic creation of the Trustee Declaration pages,
i.e. each Trustee declared within the body of the main
application form will be dynamically listed in the
Trustee Declaration Pages for printing and distribution
to the Trustees for their ‘ink-wet’ signature.
• Global Unique Identifier is presented on both the main
application form and the separate Trustee Declaration
Page to assist reconciliation when received through the
postal system.
• Integrated context sensitive help provides the
applicant with on demand access to full guidance notes
during form completion – even if working ‘offline’
without an Internet connection.
• Save the ‘partially completed’ form to the applicant’s
PC for completion at a later date.
• Send the ‘partially completed’ form to other
organisation members to collaboratively complete the
form or check before submission.
• Submit the ‘completed’ form to the Commission either
by email, or secure web pages hosted on the Commission
website.
• English and Welsh language support.
• Accessibility and support for screen reader
technology.
Mosaic’s Jason McNeil (Director and Principal
Consultant) regards this assignment as a great privilege
and welcomed the opportunity of demonstrating how
creating innovative engaging solutions based on Adobe
LiveCycle Technology can both improve the user
experience and deliver tangible business benefits for
the Commission.
